Oh (hE) mAdhav (mAdhO), where (kahAn) will I go (jAvUn), Oh repository (dhAm) [1] of all virtues (guN), leaving (chADi) this grove (kunjan) and forest (ban)?
jO main hOti jal ki macariya prabhu kartE hO snAn
caran chU lEtI hE mAdhO kahAn jAvUn gun dhAm |
If (jO) I (mein) were to have been (hOti) a fish (macariya) in the water/pond (jal ki), then, when my lord (prabhu) takes (kartE hO) his bath (snAn), I would have paid obeisance to/touched (chU lEti) his feet (caran)

If I were to have been a cuckoo (kOyaliya) in the forest (ban kI), then, when my lord comes (AtE) to graze (carAvan) the cattle (gayAn), I would have sung (sunAtI) a sweet song (lOriyA)
jO main hOti sIp ki (mugutA) mOti gal bic hOtI hAr

If I were to have been a pearl (mOti) in an oyster (sIp kI), then, I would have been (hOti) part of a garland (hAr) on my Lord's neck (gal bic), and I would always be (caDh rahtI) on (par) my beloved (piyA)
jO tum cAhO milan hamArE mIrA ke ghanSyAm

Oh dark-hued one (ghanSyAm) [2] of mine (mIrA kE), if (jO) you desire (cAhO) for me (hamArE) to meet with you (milan), please come. I am distraught (vyAkul) without (binA) even a glimpse (daras) of you.
Smt. MSS' version of this is simply sublime. One can hear mIrA's throbbing agony in every syllable, svara, and anusvara as she sings 'jO tum cAhO milan hamArE......' - it is certainly one of the places I 'see' the music.
